KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) will host the HAWANA 2026 Media Forum on 7 May 2026, bringing together stakeholders from across the media industry for a full day of dialogue and engagement.
Held in conjunction with the Malaysian National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2026 celebration, which will take place on 20 June 2026, the forum will gather media leaders, journalists, academics, public relations practitioners, as well as lecturers and students from public and private universities to deliberate on the most pressing issues shaping the industry.
The forum will examine the challenges of sustaining media organisations in times of crisis amid tightening revenue conditions, the need for journalists to adapt to an increasingly complex and fast-evolving media landscape, and the imperative of shaping a resilient and forward-looking Malaysian media ecosystem in the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) era.
Several board members of the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) will participate as panellists, including leading a dedicated session, as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism and governance within the industry.
The forum will also feature distinguished journalists and industry experts who will share their insights and perspectives, with the expanded full-day format designed to foster deeper discussion and more meaningful exchanges.
The Deputy Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Teo Nie Ching, will officially launch the forum.
The HAWANA 2026 Media Forum forms part of the broader HAWANA 2026 celebration, which recognises the vital role of journalists while fostering informed discourse on the future of the profession.
