Released on: Monday, 10 Nov 2025 12:17PM

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- PETRONAS, through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), has formalised an agreement with Gilang Cendana Sdn Bhd (GCSB), a subsidiary of Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH) to develop the PETRONAS Geoscience Technology Centre (PGTC).

This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a national hub for geoscience excellence, dedicated to advancing geoscience innovation and capability in Malaysia, and the first PETRONAS landmark in Putrajaya.

The signing ceremony was officiated by Senior Vice President of MPM, Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong, and the Chief Executive Officer of PjH and authorised signatory on behalf of GCSB, Datuk Sr. Mohd Salem Kailany.

The agreement, signed on 21 October 2025, symbolised a collaborative synergy between both parties, with Jabatan Mineral Geosains Malaysia (JMG) attending as a collaborating partner.

Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong, said, “PGTC is more than a facility; it is a symbol of our commitment to innovation, sustainability and collaboration. It will transform Malaysia’s geoscience landscape by integrating advanced data management, immersive visualisation, and collaborative research. This vision is further strengthened by PGTC’s pivotal role as the centre of Malaysia’s subsurface heritage, safeguarding over a century of exploration data and ensuring its enduring value for future generations.”

The PGTC initiative aligns with PETRONAS’ broader vision to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a regional energy hub. This collaboration with PjH marks a significant milestone in PETRONAS’ journey to elevate geoscience capabilities and foster a data-driven culture across the energy sector.

PETRONAS remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a sustainable and resilient energy supply for Malaysia. MPM continues to play a pivotal role in managing the nation’s petroleum resources and providing strategic stewardship over upstream petroleum activities in Malaysia.
