OPENING REMARKS BY ASEAN CO-CHAIR H.E DYAH RORO ESTI WIDYA PUTRI, VICE MINISTER OF TRADE, INDONESIA

Good morning, distinguished RCEP Ministers, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Executive Director of the RSU, and all delegates. Welcome to the 4th RCEP Ministers’ Meeting (RMM).

First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to H.E. Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia and the team for the excellent arrangements and warm hospitality extended to all of us.

Unfortunately, H.E. Budi Santoso, Minister of Trade of Indonesia, cannot attend this meeting due to prior official engagement. However, without undermining the significance outcome of this meeting, it is an honour for me to serve as the Alternate ASEAN Co-Chair for the 4th RCEP Ministers’ Meeting together with H.E. Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, as the AFP Co-Chair.

On this special occasion, we are expected to discuss several key agendas including the work progress of the RCEP Joint Committee (RJC) and to provide them guidance on some prominent matters for the effective implementation of the RCEP Agreement. In this regard, I look forward to your valuable support, constructive contributions, and close cooperation in enriching our discussions and ensuring meaningful outcomes from today’s meeting.

Before we proceed with our agenda, I would like to invite H.E. Muto Yoji to deliver his opening remarks. *H.E. Muto Yoji, the floor is yours.

*(H.E Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan as AFP Co-Chair)
