Celebrating success: Al Sultan Restaurants honored for distinguished halal dining and hospitality at the global stage.

SELANGOR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The World Islamic Tourism and Trade Exhibition (WITEX 2025) concluded its awards ceremony yesterday evening, organized by MATA, with the attendance of ministers, officials, and economic and cultural figures from around the world. The ceremony honored the Al-Sultan Restaurant chain, with Yemeni businessman Anas Al-Faqih receiving the award, along with the organizers. This honoring highlights the global presence of Islamic brands.

Al-Sultan Restaurant was honored last August 22, when Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Leh Kang presented it with the BeST 2.0 Award. The chain also announced the opening of two new branches in September, reflecting its expanding presence in the Malaysian market.

Al-Sultan Restaurant, under ALFA Consortium sdn bhd, continues to grow its presence in Malaysia by offering authentic Yemeni and Arabic dishes, which have become a leading representation of Middle Eastern cuisine in Kuala Lumpur and beyond. The upcoming branches in September are expected to be a valuable addition, combining the company's economic aspirations with its cultural role in showcasing Middle Eastern and Yemeni culinary heritage as a form of soft power that transcends borders through taste and shared human experience.

In his remarks, Dr. Muhammad Khalid Harun, Chairman of MATA and Chairman of WITEX & WCAF 2025, emphasized that the turnout reflects the growing global demand for Islamic tourism and culture. He explained that the event combined halal tourism with modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and applications for spiritual planning. He added that Islamic tourism now intersects with broader sectors, including health, finance, and digital commerce, making it an integrated economic project. He noted the event attracted more than 150 pavilions and opened opportunities for students and researchers from Malaysian universities, emphasizing that WITEX is moving towards becoming an annual platform uniting economy, culture, and innovation under Islamic identity.

The World Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (WITTE 2025) marked a milestone for Malaysia’s role in Islamic tourism, international trade, and cultural exchange. Opening the event, Tourism Minister Dato’ Sri Tiong Keng Seng praised the Malaysian Association of Travel Agencies (MATA) for elevating the expo from a regional initiative to a global platform.

The program featured the International Islamic Tourism and Trade Conference (Aug 22–23), addressing smart tourism, halal culinary arts, and cultural industries, with notable lectures by Tu’an Habib Ali Zainal Abidin and Mufti Farid Hazrat Mangaliev. On Aug 24, the Ministers and CEOs Summit focused on global partnerships and investment in Islamic tourism, attracting leaders from Zambia, Azerbaijan, and Malaysia. Alongside, the WCAF 2025 Festival showcased performances, modest fashion, and halal culinary arts.

The event concluded with the World Islamic Tourism & Trade Awards, recognizing excellence in tourism and culture. Over 10,000 visitors and 300 trade buyers attended from 12 countries.
