KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia (BIM), the national umbrella body for professional institutions, recently met with the Minister of Health Malaysia to present a comprehensive set of proposals aimed at strengthening affordable and sustainable healthcare in the country.

During the meeting, BIM outlined practical, evidence-based recommendations addressing key challenges such as rising healthcare costs, urban-rural access gaps, an ageing population, and the need for stronger public–private partnerships.

Key proposals shared included:
Prof ChM Dr Juan Joon Ching, President of BIM, said “Healthcare must be affordable, accessible, and advanced – not just for the privileged few, but for every Malaysian, regardless of geography or income level. BIM stands ready to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Health to translate our collective expertise into practical solutions that will improve health outcomes and strengthen our healthcare system for the long term.”

BIM also proposed hosting a national-level Professional Conference and Exhibition on Medical & Healthcare (PROFEX), bringing together healthcare professionals, industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and accelerate progress towards affordable healthcare solutions.

The meeting reaffirmed BIM’s commitment to serving as a trusted policy partner to the Ministry of Health, mobilising the expertise of its 23 professional member bodies to support policy formulation, research, and nationwide public health awareness initiatives.
